Baptism

The Bible teaches that baptism is the first step of obedience after making a decision to follow Jesus. Water baptism allows a believer to communicate to the world a heartfelt commitment to follow Jesus (Acts 2:38; Rom 6:4)

We celebrate baptism regularly. It is a wonderful occasion to hear a person’s story and see them commit their life to Jesus. If you witness a baptism service and have questions we would love to hear from you.

We do not baptise babies in our church. We wait until an individual is old enough to understand what it means and make their own commitment to follow Jesus. We support parents in the spiritual care of their children by holding parent-child dedication services. Ask us if you are interested to know more.

People often have questions regarding baptism: Why should I be baptised? That happened when I was a child, do I have to do it again? Does it matter if someone is sprinkled or immersed? How does it work practically? Am I ready to be baptised?

We would love to support your journey. If you are interested in baptism or want more information please speak with one of the ministry staff or contact our office office@dvbc.net
